Jared L. Bingham, MD

Dr. Jared Bingham grew up in Provo, Utah, but draws his heritage from the Spanish Fork area, both of his parents having grown up there.  (He is also proud of another Spanish Fork connection: having been delivered by Dr. Enoch Ludlow).  After finishing high school and serving an LDS mission in Japan, he completed his undergraduate studies at BYU, graduating with double majors in Japanese and zoology.

Shortly after graduating, he married Lynette Ashcroft from Orem, an RN who was kind enough to support their growing family while Dr. Bingham attended medical school at the University of Utah.  As a fourth year medical student shooting for a career in family practice, Dr. bingham was looking for a community family practice rotation to hone his skills, and noticed the Spanish Fork Clinic on the list of possible preceptors.  With four grandparents who were lifetime Spanish Fork residents, he was acquainted with many Spanish Fork folks and thought it would be fun to complete part of his education among those people.  He ended up spending four weeks working with Dr. Frandsen and several of the other Spanish Fork docs.  They got along well and Dr. Bingham was asked to come back as a partner after he finished residency.

In 1997, after medical school graduation, the Binghams moved to the corn and soybean fields of the midwest to complete a residency in Decatur, Illinois.  They enjoyed their time there, but were happy to return home to the mountains three years later to open Canyon View's new Santaquin Medical Clinic.  Dr. Bingham will soon complete his eleventh year practicing in Santaquin.  He has seen a lot of growth and change there, most significantly the new clinic building which opened three years ago.

The Binghams have made their home in Salem, and are the parents of two boys and two girls, ages 16 down to 10.  Professionally, Dr. Bingham particularly enjoys the health promotion and preventive aspects of family medicine, and finds satisfaction in helping patients improve their overall health and hold off chronic disease through healthy lifestyle changes.  In his personal life he enjoys reading, fishing, planning fishing trips he probably won't go on, and family vacations, with Lake Powell being a new family favorite destination and a growing tradition.
