Miguel L. Knochel, MD

      Miguel L. Knochel, MD is currently accepting new patients at Payson Pediatrics, on the first floor of the new medical office building connected to Mountain View Hospital.
      Dr. Knochel loves answering parents' questions and interacting with children at their doctor visits.   He believes each child is unique and deserves his individual respect and attention.   He prescribes antibiotics judiciously, encourages full vaccination, and works on injury prevention.   As a pediatrician in Payson, he specializes in infants, children, and teens.  Dr. Knochel does full evaluations and management for asthma, ADHD, behavioral problems, well child checks, and children with special needs including prematurity, birth defects, and complex medical problems.  He is the Chief of Pediatrics at Mountain View Hospital, where he collaborates with other doctors to continually improve safety and quality of care.  He serves on the board of the Kids Who Count Early Intervention program, helping very young children connect with developmental services.  He also is on the Neonatology Quality Review Council for HCA Hospitals.  He continues to advance the profession of pediatrics throughout the region, as the Course Director for the largest pediatric education conference for Utah doctors, as well as authoring questions for the Pediatric Board Certification exam. 
      Dr. Knochel received his bachelor's degree in Biochemistry summa cum laude from The Colorado College. At University of Utah School of Medicine, he was in the top 5% of his medical school graduating class, and received multiple awards from his peers and faculty for Humanism in medicine and exemplary patient care.   He completed pediatric residency at Primary Children's Medical Center, where he received the Excellence in Teaching award, and was also chosen for the Pediatric Practice award by the professors of pediatrics - as the doctor to whom they would most want to bring their own children.   He joined Canyon View Medical Group in 2007. 
     Dr. Knochel lives in Payson with his wife and three children.
